Who hates you?

John 15: 18
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.

Forgive me, but for some strange reason, I can’t get this verse out of my head.
Let me show you what I mean.

There’s a husband and wife preacher team in Idaho, who are in jail today.
They refused to perform a same sex marriage, and they’re now being hated for standing up for Jesus.

If it came right down to it, would you stand up for your faith?
Would you consider spending a few nights or weeks in the pen?

There’s a day coming, and I think it’ll be here sooner than later, but I think a true follower of Jesus is going to know what it’s like to be hated.
I’m not trying to be a show off, but after 12 years of ministry, and telling the truth, I have my own hate, fan club.

I’m not sure why we should be so shocked at reading this stuff in the news.
Jesus said this time would come, and it appears it’s right here at our doorstep.

These are the kinds of verses that many people just as soon not read.
These are the verses of scripture, that many churches will never preach on.

I happen to believe, that the truth will set us free.
They might not bring us freedom from jail, but they will bring us great freedom in Christ Jesus…
