Psalm
41: 1 - 2
1Blessed
is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the
Lord
delivers him;
2 the
Lord
protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the
land...
During
the entire month of January, I taught from the Bible to our church about giving
God our best.
The
Bible has a lot to say about generosity and money.
I’m
sure there were times when my church friends thought I was a little mixed up
between the ears while I preached.
I
mean, 4 weeks on giving!?!? The “mixed up” part of that previous sentence
bares some discussion.
In
any event, we took a First Fruit offering on Sunday, February
14th.
What
better date to bring God the fullness of our hearts, than on Valentine’s
Day.
It
seemed like an appropriate day, but shouldn’t we bring God our best, every
day?
Do
you bring God your best? Do you serve Him with a full heart?
On
any given Sunday, our offerings range between $3,500.00 and
$4,000.00.
The
people responded, and the offering we brought to God was just short of
$22,000.00
Now
you’re going to think this is crazy, but we want to give some of what we brought
to God, away.
We’re
not going to put it in the bank for rainy day, we’re going to sow more
seed.
Blessed
is the one who considers the poor.
We
understand, that in the day of trouble, God will deliver us, although that’s
never been our motive to give.
Actually,
He’s worth every penny, and then some...
