Acts 2:
46
Every day they
continued to meet together in the temple courts. They
broke bread in their
homes and ate together with glad and sincere
hearts…
Statistically, only
about 13.5% of Americans attend church every week.
Maybe the people in
the Early New Testament church, just did not have anything better to
do?
This text says, they
met together every day.
I wonder if things
in our world would change for the better, if we met to worship God, every
day?
What a radical point
of view.
Almost every
mainline denomination, has reported consistent declines in church attendance
over the last 30 years.
It’s believed today,
that most people will not secure membership in any given church, because that
usually means commitment.
No
fooling?
Maybe when there’s
commitment in the church again, we’ll actually see churches attendance
flourish?
Maybe it will be a
day, when we see the return of… “glad and
sincere hearts”.
The Barna research
group says, that the modern day American church, has… “created a consumer church culture.”
The only thing the
Early New Testament church seemed to consume, was more of the power of
God.
Let’s not forget
what Jesus told Peter, at Caesarea Philippi, about the
church…
“I will build my
church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against
it.”
