Proverbs 4: 24
Put away perversity from your
mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Words are powerful, aren’t they?
They can wound the spirit of another
person—Words can leave permanent scars.
Words can sew seeds of corruption,
and can tarnish a good reputation in nothing flat.
Words can also produce a very
profound blessing.
I wonder if this chapter of Proverbs,
is just telling us to keep from using foul language?
Probably not.
There are many forms of corrupt talk.
Gossip—deception—slander—rumor—negativity……
All of these by the way, contradict
the revealed charter of God.
Scripture tells us to get rid of
fruitless talk.
We are responsible to use speech that
build up, not tear down.
Do you guard the way you use your
tongue?
The tongue is a formidable weapon,
and it can wield power that most of us never thought.
Maybe we should use our tongue, so it
brings honor to God, and the people around us?
A wise person knows when to speak their mind—and knows how
to mind what they speak……….
